California ReLeaf Network

Membership Criteria

To qualify for Network membership a group must:

  • Have as one of its principal goals the planting, care, and/or protection of trees in the community and be committed to long-term environmental stewardship.
  • Recruit and involve the public in its urban forestry efforts.
  • Have a mission statement and an action plan outlining its goals and activities.
  • Be in existence at least six months prior to applying for California ReLeaf Network membership and have completed at least one community project.
  • Have a phone number and mailing address that can be made available to the public.

Membership Benefits

  • Members are invited to participate in an annual meeting of the entire network, with a portion of travel and lodging expenses reimbursed by California ReLeaf.
  • From time to time, California ReLeaf receives funds that are passed on through special programs exclusively for Network members. Members may also apply for funds under any of the State grant programs California ReLeaf administers.
  • Members receive regular mailings that include timely news on funding opportunities and educational events.
  • Members are kept apprised of pending state and national legislation related to urban forestry.
  • Members receive copies of California Trees, California ReLeaf’s quarterly newsletter, mailed directly to designated individuals on their board, staff, or membership list.
  • Members may use the California ReLeaf Network Member logo on printed materials and press releases.

Membership Responsibilities

  • Members are expected to add California ReLeaf to their mailing list to receive publications, event announcements, and press releases.
  • Members are requested to keep California ReLeaf apprised of changes to their mailing address, phone number, and, if applicable, email and website addresses.
  • Members are to respond in a timely manner to requests for information from California ReLeaf.
  • Members are requested to operate in a spirit of cooperation with other Network members, offering advice and assistance to the extent possible.
  • Members are required to submit a brief annual report of their activities and accomplishments.
